About
I am a graduate student at the University of Colorado, in the atmospheric & oceanic sciences department (ATOC). I work in Baylor Fox-Kemper's research group at CU's Cooperative Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences (CIRES). As of Fall 2009, I am supported by the NASA Earth & Space Science Fellowship (NESSF) program, and received additional funding in April 2010 from a CIRES Innovative Research Program (IRP) seed grant.
My primary research interests are tropical oceanography and climate variability; I have been working a great deal on the El Nino/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) for my thesis work. But in general, I like to think about how well we can quantify our knowledge of the climate system. That means that I work a lot with coupled climate model simulations and with various statistical analyses: models are our best tool for understanding how the climate works, but we still have a long way to go before we get everything right.
