About
My undergraduate research at Rice University focused on the Archean and continent formation processes. Once in grad school at Brown, I started working on planetary problems. Archean and planetary research are similar in that you have limited data sets and samples.
For my Masters research, I focused on using the barren interior region of Iceland as an analog for the Northern Plains of Mars. I am interested in weathering processes as well as climate change questions. I'm primarily a field geologist (love being out there!) but I also do lab work in spectroscopy.
Currently, I am in the PhD program at the University of Colorado Boulder, working with Dr. Bilham on melting glaciers in the Himalaya and Karakoram. I hope to integrate my knowledge of geochemistry with landscape change research in mountainous and glacial regions in the world. I also look forward to getting trained in some geophysical techniques.
In my spare time, I enjoy mountain climbing and hiking. I have visited all seven continents and on Nov 28, 2009, made my highest point: the summit of Kilimanjaro at 19,340 ft., via the Umbwe route.
